We are happy to announce that the Honolulu City Council today approved a resolution changing the name of Kane`ohe Beach Park to Naoneala`a a Kane`ohe. Our civic club requested the change and has obtained two grants to pay for a story board signage that will be installed at the park to share the history of this important place. The park is located at the end of Waikalua Road in Kane`ohe (past Kane`ohe Police Station). This artwork, by Hawaiian artist Brook Parker, tells the story of a day in January 1737 when the high chiefs Peleioholani and Alapa`i came together with the warriors of Hawai`i, Maui, Kauai and O`ahu to make peace after years of war among the islands. ...
